Brian James
Partner - Architectural Technician + Certified Passive House Consultant
After studying for an HNC in Building Technology at Inverness College Brian joined LDN Architects, Forres in 1991. He worked with LDN Architects for 25 years where he was able to develop and fine tune the incredible design and technical skills he has today.
He was involved in numerous private dwellings, public buildings and social housing developments across Moray and the Highlands. Some to note are the Urquhart Castle Visitor Centre, Gairloch Museum, Torridon, Dingwall and Portmahomack social housing and the redevelopment of a National Trust for Scotland property in Threadneedle Street Peterhead.
Brian has long been passionate about Passivhaus and Enerphit design. His interest was further ignited in 2022 when we collaborated on an Enerphit project in Findhorn for a London-based architect. Working alongside a Certified Passive House Designer through the Building Warrant stage proved to be a pivotal experience. Driven by this, Brian undertook intensive Passivhaus training with MosArt Ltd in early 2025. Following a demanding examination administered by the German Passive House Institute, he successfully qualified as a Certified Passive House Consultant. We are incredibly enthusiastic about this new expertise within our practice.
